Fried Ice Cream: Myths and Truths
Fried ice cream is an amazing dessert, that is gaining popularity. But there are a few myths about it that you might not know about and we are here to debunk them for you!
Myth #1: Fried ice cream is greasy.
This is actually a myth! Fried ice cream is not greasy if it is made properly, hence why we are the UK's First and Only Fried Ice Cream Company (because we do it properly!). Without revealing all the secrets, how we keep our fried ice cream non-greasy is by using sceince! Simplest way: Frozen ice-cream + high heat + flash fry = Non-greasy, crispy and yummy fried ice cream!
Myth #2: Fried ice cream is unhealthy.
This is also a myth! Fried ice cream can be unhealthy if it is made with a lot of unhealthy ingredients, such as the standard fish&chip deep-fried batter or poor qaulity ice-cream. At T's Fried Scoop, we do not use cheap ice cream (see our ethics page!) and we do not use a heavy batter type.
Fact: Fried ice cream is under 380 calories.
This is a fact! A small serving of fried ice cream is under 380 calories. This is because the ice cream is frozen very hard before it is fried, which helps to prevent it from melting and becoming more calorie-dense.
Other fact-checked myths in favour of consuming fried ice cream:
- Fried ice cream can be a good source of calcium. The ice cream is usually made with milk, which is a good source of calcium.
- Fried ice cream can be a good source of antioxidants. Flavours we offer such as Lemon cheesecake, Apple Crumble, Black Coconut and many more are often made with real fruits, which are a good source of antioxidants.
So, there you have it! Fried ice cream is not actually greasy or unhealthy. In fact, it can be a good source of protein, calcium, and antioxidants. So next time you're looking for a delicious, non-guilty and delicious dessert, visit T's Fried Scoop for a fried ice cream.
